US bought Alaska from Russia over 100 years ago for less the 2 cents an acre. In 1867 U.S. Secretary of State William H. Seward bought Alaska from Russia for $7.2 million.
Alaska is the largest state but has the fewest people per square mile.
Alaska is home to Mt. McKinley. At 20,320 feet it is the highest mountain in the US. It is home to Moose, Elk, Caribou, Bears and Mountain Goats.
