Yes, advance tickets are required for most NYC zoos and highly recommended for others. Bronx Zoo requires advance timed ticket reservations for all visitors - you will not be permitted to enter without a timed ticket. Parking should also be purchased in advance ($17) as lots fill early during summer months. Central Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, and Prospect Park Zoo all require date-specific tickets purchased in advance for every guest. You arrive within one hour of selected entry time (e.g., 10am ticket means enter between 10am-11am), then stay as long as desired. For free Wednesday admission at WCS facilities, advance online booking is mandatory: Bronx Zoo tickets available Monday at 5pm, NY Aquarium Wednesday tickets available Monday at 3pm, with maximum 4 tickets per order. Do not arrive at these facilities without reserved tickets. Buffalo Zoo, Seneca Park Zoo, Utica Zoo, and Ross Park Zoo accept walk-up admissions, though Buffalo Zoo encourages online purchase. Rosamond Gifford Zoo and Staten Island Zoo allow walk-up admission. However, purchasing tickets online in advance is always recommended to guarantee entry, avoid lines, and secure your preferred date/time, especially during peak summer season, weekends, and holidays when capacity may be limited.
